Description

After receiving a magical epithet from a monk, the lascivious young man transformed his appearance into that of Mansur, the merchant, in order to go to bed with Manur’s wife. The imposter, dressed in yellow at the right, is welcomed home by members of Mansur’s household. They are distressed that he has returned unexpectedly without his horse, assistants, or belongings.
A vertically oriented tempera and ink painting depicts four men with light skin tones within an architectural setting. Below three striped domes, a figure in a purple garment kneels toward another in yellow. To the left, two men in orange and blue tunics observe. An archway with a blue floral pattern frames the group. Five horizontal lines of black script occupy the bottom. Two slender towers flank the domes above a gold decorative band.
