Description

The three suitors hold the lifeless body of the woman they intended to marry. She is wrapped in a diaphanous burial shroud, and her tomb stands empty in the background. When the suitors realize that the woman is not dead, they proceed to attempt to revive her.
A vertically oriented gum tempera painting features three lines of Persian script at the top. Below, three men with light skin tones surround a woman wrapped in a white shroud. To our left, a tiered white tomb sits near a green tree filled with white birds. On our right, water flows from craggy gray rocks into a pond with ducks. The figures are positioned against a massive, rounded, reddish-pink hill.
