Description

As the sun sets on the forty-second night Khujasta reproaches Tuti, accusing him of keeping her away from her lover. Tuti responds by telling Khujasta a story about a merchant’s son who similarly received wise advice from a talking parrot. By the time the story ends, it is too late for Khujasta to visit her lover.
A vertically oriented manuscript page features a painting above several lines of black Persian calligraphy. In the illustration, a woman with light skin tone and gold jewelry gestures toward a green parrot perched on our right. She wears a blue top and a green patterned skirt. Behind her, blue and gold architectural details and a pink tiled floor define the courtyard setting. The script below is divided into horizontal and vertical boxes.
