Description

The princess of Rum is overjoyed to discover that her son is alive. The king had ordered the young man’s execution after wrongly believing him to be his wife’s lover. The guard, who spared the young man’s life, is generously rewarded for his kindness.
A gum tempera and ink book page features Persian script in the upper third and an illustration in the lower two-thirds depicting three people. On our left, a woman wearing patterned clothing and gold jewelry faces our right. In the center, a man in an orange tunic lies prostrate. To our right, another man in a blue tunic reaches toward the pair. Stylized trees rise behind a red fence. All have medium skin tones.
