Did You Know?

Most of the signature of the artist has been scraped away, so that only the character "Sheng" is legible.
An album leaf depicts a landscape of muted brown mountains formed by soft, undulating washes. In the foreground, knobby trees with dark, staccato dashes for leaves grow on rolling hills. A thin waterfall cascades down a rocky cliff on the left. Toward the right, two tiny figures, one on horseback, traverse a path. Red ink seals, including a gourd-shaped stamp, punctuate the composition, appearing as bold bursts of color across the misty scene.
