This painting was donated by Jaya Appasamy, artist and art critic of modern Indian art, who studied at Oberlin College for her master's degree.
A vertically oriented gum tempera and ink painting depicts a grey-skinned man in a blue tunic and red turban embracing a woman in the center while holding a garland. On our right, another woman in a red top and blue skirt watches. To our left, a pavilion contains striped cushions. Below, a small deer drinks from a bowl. A thick yellow border with black script frames the scene against a starry night sky and foliage.
