A vertically oriented etching depicts a man seated in an armchair, his body angled toward our right. He wears a wide-brimmed hat casting shadows over his eyes, a buttoned coat, and a heavy cloak draped over his shoulders. His hands rest in his lap. Dense hatched lines create deep shadows against the light cream paper, while a faint, arched line is lightly etched across the top background.
