Description

Because this gold coin represents the Paschal Lamb, a symbol of Christ, on one of its faces, it is known as a "Golden Sheep"--Mouton d'Or in French.
Two sides of a gold coin feature Latin inscriptions circling an image on both sides (see "Inscriptions" field). On the left, a nimbed lamb faces right, holding a staff with a cross and banner above the text "IOH REX." On the right, a cross with stylized three-petaled lily designs at each end is enclosed within a four-lobed frame. Stamped Latin text follows the circular edges of both warm gold surfaces.
