Description

This print was published in Le Charivari (July 3, 1842) as plate 15 from the series Ancient History.
A vertically oriented lithograph in black ink depicts a man and a woman with light skin tones walking through heavy diagonal rain. On our left, Aeneas wears a plumed helmet and cape, holding the arm of Dido on our right. Dido wears a long white gown. They move between dark, jagged rock formations. Text at the top reads "HISTOIRE ANCIENNE" and French verses appear below "ENEE ET DIDON" at the bottom.
