Description

This print was published in Le Charivari (August 9, 1844) as plate 18 from the series The Best Days in Life.
A vertically oriented print depicts two men with light skin tones from the waist up against a background of dense diagonal lines. On our left, an older man with downcast eyes wears a wide-brimmed hat and dark vest. To our right, a man in a feathered cap and ruffled collar turns away, gesturing with spread fingers. Fine hatching creates shadows across their forms. A signature is inscribed at the bottom left.
