Description

This print was published in Le Charivari (November 21, 1848) as plate 5 from the series The Banqueters.
A vertically oriented lithograph depicts a man with light skin tone dancing in a ballroom. He balances on one foot, body arched backward, wearing a dark jacket with epaulets and a white sash. To the right, a couple watches him, while a woman in a voluminous gown stands to the left. Caricatured figures in military shakos fill the background rendered in sketchy lines. Text above reads, "LES BANQUETEURS."
