Did You Know?

In Jainism, yakshas communicate between humans and beings in the eternal realm of liberation.
A horizontally oriented gum tempera and ink painting on a fragmented palm leaf depicts four blocks of black Indic script flanking a central hole. In a square panel with a red background, the light-skinned Brahmanshanti Yaksha sits cross-legged. The haloed figure has four arms holding ritual objects and is surrounded by small white blossoms. The tan leaf shows worn edges and a red inscription on the far left.
