A hanging scroll in black ink features an asymmetrical depiction of orchids and bamboo sprouting from a weathered rock in the lower left. Sparse, sweeping strokes outline the rock, while fluid, dark strokes highlight arching orchid leaves and thin bamboo stalks splaying upward and toward the right. Vertical columns of calligraphy appear in the upper left against the light gray paper. Light-tan floral-patterned silk and dark blue bands border the composition.
