An ink and color painting on joined paper leaves features two distinct sides. On the right, loose, gestural black strokes depict a bearded figure in a wide-brimmed hat riding a donkey while holding a staff. The left contains vertical columns of Japanese calligraphy brushed in flowing ink. Red square seals mark both lower corners. The brushwork against the cream paper includes splotches of ink and thin, grayed remnants splaying at the edges.
