Description

Marl is a crumbly mixture of clays, calcium, and magnesium carbonates, often used as fertilizer for lime-deficient soils.
A horizontally oriented oil painting depicts a landscape divided by a low hill. Below, sandy tan earth and sparse tufts of green grass fill an excavated foreground. To the left, a stand of dark green trees and tall poplars line the ridge. In the upper half, streaks of yellow and pink light cross a gray-blue sky at the horizon, where a thin crescent moon hangs in the upper left. A signature is bottom left.
