Did You Know?

Aboriginal artists made paintings on bark using symbols drawn from ceremonial body painting and rock paintings.
A vertically oriented sheet of striated dark brown bark features a kangaroo in profile painted with white tempera. The head significantly smaller than the body, the arms and legs stick diagonally out and down with the tail curved between the legs. A diamond pattern covers the chest, and hatching marks the back and most of the remainder of the body. The paint has worn away in striated patches.
