A vertically oriented gum tempera drawing depicts a man with medium skin tone seated in a dark chair. Facing our left, he holds a long-stemmed pipe with a tiered top. His black hair is bundled in side buns, and large hoop earrings frame his face. A blue and black striped shawl drapes over his shoulders and lap. Sparse, bold lines define his white pants and layered necklaces against the light cream paper.
