A vertically oriented hanging scroll in black ink on paper depicts a hawk perched on a gnarled branch. Facing right, the bird features detailed feathered patterns and a speckled chest. To the left, branches with berries frame the hawk. In the background, faint mountain peaks with dark, horizontal strokes forming trees rise from a pale wash. Red seals mark the upper right and lower left. Brief brushstrokes define the bamboo leaves at the very bottom.
