Description

Suzuki Harunobu produced the original design for this print in about 1766 to 1767. The brighter colors of this print, and in particular the unfaded color of the water indicates that it is of a later date.
A vertically oriented woodblock print depicts the Heron Maiden standing in a snowy landscape. Facing our right, she holds a yellow and gray umbrella, wearing white robes with a black sash. To her right, a snow-laden willow tree with drooping branches arches over her against a horizontal brown reed fence. In the bottom-left foreground, a stream with swirling green and blue water flows past the snow-covered bank.
