Description

Kamisaka Sekka made preparatory drawings for his Flowers of a Hundred Worlds series on tracing paper with ink and color. The freehand sketches are much looser than the finished, printed compositions.
A horizontal ink and color drawing depicts a person with a light skin tone seated from behind on tan paper. They wear a tall black hat and a voluminous green robe patterned with pine sprigs over a red garment and lavender trousers with blue floral motifs. Turning right, the figure holds a slender flute to their mouth. Faint tan foliage lines the background, while small black marks scatter across the foreground.
