Description

Kamisaka Sekka made preparatory drawings for his Flowers of a Hundred Worlds series on tracing paper with ink and color. The freehand sketches are much looser than the finished, printed compositions.
A horizontally oriented ink and color drawing on paper depicts two women with light skin and long black hair kneeling to our right against a plain beige background. Facing each other, they use wooden mallets to strike white cloth over a low wooden frame. One wears a patterned red and blue robe with a green skirt. The other wears a blue and white robe with green leaf patterns. The left side remains blank.
