Description

Kamisaka Sekka made preparatory drawings for his Flowers of a Hundred Worlds series on tracing paper with ink and color. The freehand sketches are much looser than the finished, printed compositions.
A horizontally oriented ink and color drawing depicts a figure reclining among yellow flowers. The figure wears a teal robe with brown floral sleeves and a large, dark mass of hair. They hold a thin stick over a round, flat object while gazing right. A dark, vertical form borders the left side, while thick clusters of yellow blossoms fill the lower right against a pale yellow background.
