Description

Kamisaka Sekka made preparatory drawings for his Flowers of a Hundred Worlds series on tracing paper with ink and color. The freehand sketches are much looser than the finished, printed compositions.
A horizontally oriented ink and color drawing on paper depicts three light-skinned figures dancing across a plain background. On our left, a figure in a wide green hat and red, triangle-patterned kimono raises one arm. In the center, a person in a black garment with a yellow checkerboard hem leans toward our right. On our right, a woman in a light blue kimono decorated with large green leaves raises both arms aloft.
