Description

As punishment for the king's sins, the prophet predicts disaster saying, "those of your people who die in the city shall be eaten by dogs, and those who die in the field shall be eaten by birds." Ahijah is seated, pointing to two dying people including the young man with the crown, presumably Jeroboam's son.
A vertically oriented black ink print on gray-white paper depicts a bearded man in robes and a hat seated beneath a gnarled tree on our right. He gestures toward two dogs in the lower left, who stand over a nude figure lying beside a crown. To our left, a tall ruined stone wall rises behind the body, while birds fly over a distant hillside in the background.
