Description

According to the Old Testament, Elijah, a ninth-century BC Hebrew prophet, survived his time in the wilderness with the help of a raven sent by God, who fed him bread and venison.
A vertically oriented print in black ink depicts Elijah, an older man with a light skin tone and a long beard, reclining in the lower right. Draped in heavy robes, he reaches toward a raven carrying a round loaf. Another raven flies above him. Gnarled, textured trees with layered foliage frame the left side. Fine cross-hatching and repeated, curved lines define the rocky terrain and distant hills under a light sky.
