Did You Know?

This metal pin was used to fasten clothing.
A cast and wrought bronze garment pin angles diagonally, tapering to a sharp point. Its head, a flattened sphere etched with fine horizontal grooves, resembles a small bead crowned by a flared cap. The dark metal is weathered with a mottled, greenish-black patina and glimpses of brown. The long, thin rod balances this decorative finial against a functional, needle-like shaft.
