Did You Know?

The Chinese phoenix is known as Fenghuang, mythological birds in East Asian mythology that reign over all other birds.
A square bronze mirror features a central round knob within concentric circles. Between two rings, two long-tailed birds with curved crests fly clockwise. Stylized plant and flower designs fill the corners of the frame. The dark gray patina is marked by tan patches across the raised designs. Texture is created by relief carvings, including beaded borders and feathered details, which stand out against the flat, weathered surface of the bronze.
