Did You Know?

This artist is emulating the style of Sōami (d. 1525). A seal on the painting even has one of Sōami's names.
A vertically oriented hanging scroll in black ink on tan paper depicts two geese amidst bamboo. Centrally, one goose stands with its long neck extended and beak open while a second rests behind it. Pointed, dark bamboo leaves sweep upward from the center-right. The scene utilizes varied gray and black ink tones, with a small red seal stamped in the lower right corner against the muted background.
