A horizontally oriented handscroll features vertical columns of Chinese calligraphy in black ink followed by a landscape. First, a thatched-roof hut sits within dense bamboo groves. Then, pale mountains created with soft washes rise in the background. Numerous red square seal stamps appear across the tan paper. More calligraphy frames the scene on the far right. Dark, repetitive brushstrokes define the bamboo, contrasting against the paper's light surface.
