Description

This print was published in Le Charivari (November 24, 1843) as plate 8 from the series The Chapter of Interpretations.
A vertically oriented hand-colored lithograph depicts an older woman with light skin tone leaning over a wooden table. Wearing a striped cap, black shawl over red sleeves, and a white apron, she lifts a cloth with both hands to reveal small, tan objects. Her eyes are wide and mouth open. To our left, a green chair sits below a window. Fine diagonal lines shade the background, with a basket and pot on the floor.
