Description

This print was published in Le Charivari (November 19, 1845) as plate 33 from the series Pastorals.
A vertically oriented black-inked lithograph depicts an older man and woman with light skin tones standing in a field. On our left, the man wears a dark coat and mortarboard cap. On our right, the woman wears a headscarf and inspects a lumpy object. A pile of similar forms sits between them. Inscribed above is "PASTORALES" and below, "– Dire pourtant que j'avais planté des pommes de terre..."
