Description

The artist Bian Shoumin is known for his depiction of wild geese, water, and reeds. The migrant birds in autumn and winter evoked, in the minds of the Chinese intelligentsia, a time of parting and sorrow.
A rectangular, wooden album cover features a warm brown, vertical grain divided into two panels. Near the center seam, a vertical tan paper strip features a dark smudge above two columns of black ink calligraphy, ending in a red seal. A small white label with handwritten numbers is placed near the base. Natural wood grain flows throughout both panels, and a thin, dark brown border runs along the far right edge.
