Description

After inking the plate, instead of wiping all of the excess ink off of the surface, Buhot purposely left a thin layer of ink on the sky and water, creating an effect of atmosphere and mist.
A horizontally oriented black ink print with fine, hatched strokes depicts a rugged landscape. Dense trees with tangled lines occupy the left foreground while a small figure with a bundle stands near a craggy cliff on the right. A winding path leads to a ruined stone building atop a central hill. In the distance, a body of water meets a dark sky marked by heavy, horizontal strokes. Cursive script appears in the lower right.
