Description

This print was published in Le Charivari (March 19, 1837) as plate 36 from the series Caricaturana.
A vertically oriented lithograph hand-colored with watercolor depicts two figures in a room framed by ornate script. On the left, a light-skinned man with mouth agape leans toward a seated, light-skinned woman. He wears a black coat and red scarf, while she sits on a tan sofa in a purple dress and floral apron, resting her chin on her hand. They are set against patterned wallpaper beside a fireplace mantel.
