A vertically oriented tempera painting is composed of flat, saturated washes and crisp black contours. Vasudeva, a bald man with a ponytail, cradles the dark blue infant Krishna across his chest. He wears a red striped scarf over a white dhoti, standing beside a small, tan jackal. To our left, a blue cobra rises from a pale wash. Faint graphite sketches of ethereal figures haunt the background, providing a ghostly, translucent counterpoint.
