Did You Know?

The women at the right are probably Dushyanta's wife Shakuntala and her mother Menaka.
A vertically oriented gum tempera and graphite painting depicts figures beneath a flat-topped green tree. On our left, Dushyanta, a crowned man with medium-light skin, leans against the trunk in a green tunic. In the center, Bharat, a medium-skinned child, reaches toward a striped tiger. On our right, two women in red and green saris stand against a blue background. All figures are framed by a dark border.
