Description

This image is taken from popular dramas where Krishna, lover of the cowgirls (gopis), disguises himself as a boatman to ferry a demure Radha, his favorite gopi. It depicts devotion and the intensity of separated lovers.
Two vertically oriented gum tempera paintings depict Hindu deities on aged paper. On the left, dark blue Krishna stands on a red swan-prowed boat while Radha, with a light skin tone, sits in a pavilion beside a bald figure. On the right, Parvati, with a medium skin tone, reaches up to place a garland over Shiva, who has light blue skin and a crown. Both scenes feature bold outlines and vibrant, flat colors.
