A vertically oriented tempera and ink painting depicts a woman with medium skin tone reclining against a white bolster. Facing right, she holds a long-necked stringed instrument, wearing a green top and red patterned wrap. Jewelry adorns her dark hair and arms. Above hangs a green fringed curtain and blue ornament. In the foreground, two drums, one tan and one green, rest on mottled ground against a yellow background with faint outlines.
