Description

An adaptation of the Greek goddess Artemis or Roman goddess Diana, goddess of the hunt, this winged fairy wears a British crown and a short skirt and carries a spear. Like Diana/Artemis, the stag is presented on her left. Her hair resembles that of other Hindu goddesses.
A vertically oriented gum tempera and graphite painting depicts a winged figure with medium-light skin beside a small deer. Standing with a slight turn to our right, the figure wears a yellow and red crown, large green wings, and a purple skirt with a red sash. Heavy black outlines define the forms against a tan background with faint pencil patterns. The figure's left hand holds a leash attached to the deer, which gazes upward.
