Description

This view of Trocadero Park features one of the sculptures that surrounded a large basin that collected water from a large cascade. The sculpture of an elk stuggling with a boa constrictor was made only of plaster and was almost completely destroyed by 1910. The sculptor, Emmanuel Frémiet, studied animals at the botanical gardens in Paris, which exhibited both flora and fauna.
A vertically oriented color lithograph depicts a textured, dark gray elk sculpture standing on a rocky mound. White flowers grow at its base. Behind the sculpture, the Eiffel Tower rises into a gray sky with vertical woodgrain texture and billowing white clouds. In the distance, domed buildings sit beyond a body of water. Muted browns and grays dominate the scene, punctuated by two small red stamps in the lower right corners.
