The solidus coin was first made in AD 301 in Rome.

Description

This coin was minted by Maurice Tiberius, an emperor best known for his military prowess and his successes in the war against the Persians.
Two sides of a gold coin feature an inscription circling an image on both sides (see "Inscriptions" field). On the left, a stylized man faces forward wearing a crown and holding a globe topped with a cross. On the right, a standing winged figure holds a long staff topped with a cross and a globe topped with a cross. Below the figure, the letters "CONOB" are discernible at the bottom.
