Hundreds of small glass tesserae make up the central image on the cover of this snuff box.
A rectangular snuff box, crafted from sparkling brown goldstone, centers an oval micro mosaic framed in patterned gold. Within the scene, a nude, winged child with a light skin tone sits on a blue cloth, playing a golden horn. To the left, a tree overarches a drum on the grass, while a river and hills fill the background. Shimmering copper inclusions across the body create a starlit effect surrounding the miniature landscape.
