Description

This print was published in Le Charivari (March 6, 1857) as plate 34 from the series Parisian Sketches.
A horizontally oriented lithograph depicts a man and woman with light skin tones struggling through a storm. On our right, the man leans forward, gripping an umbrella blown inside out as his top hat flies upward. To our left, the woman's voluminous skirts and hair blow backward. Heavy diagonal lines represent driving rain. Inscribed below the print are the words, "- Ça n'est rien Eléonore......, ça n'est rien...... c'est un grain......"
