Description

This print was published in Le Charivari (October 9, 1842) as plate 27 from the series Ancient History.
A vertically oriented lithograph in monochrome depicts two men with light skin tones and elongated bodies in a sparse landscape. On our right, the thin Telemachus walks in a white tunic and floral wreath, holding a bouquet with downcast eyes. On our left, an elderly, bearded Mentor hunches in a dark robe with a furrowed brow and open mouth. Behind them, sketchy trees sit beneath French text at the top and bottom.
