Description

This print was published in the magazine L’Assiette au Beurre (March 1, 1902 ) as plate 5 from the series Crimes and Punishments.
A vertically oriented color lithograph depicts two men in a landscape. On our left, a silhouetted officer in profile writes on a paper. On our right, a stout man with a light skin tone, flushed red face, and striped tunic gestures while carrying a rifle. Between them, legs extend from a corpse on the ground. Heavy black outlines define the scene. French text below includes, "Il est mort... sur ma terre!..."
