Description

This print was published in the magazine L’Assiette au Beurre (March 1, 1902 ) as plate 19 from the series Crimes and Punishments.
A vertically oriented lithograph in black and yellow depicts a large, bald man in a dark suit looming over a smaller figure in a striped skirt and wrapped head. Bold outlines and stippled shading define the scene, featuring a sign titled "REGLEMENT" and a scalloped wall pattern. Below the figures, cursive French text is inscribed across the tan paper. The composition uses flat color blocks to create a stark interior scene.
