Did You Know?

Once a temple for the ancient Egyptian religion, the temple of Dendur was used as a Coptic Christian church in the sixth century CE.
A horizontally oriented lithograph in muted tan tones depicts a centered stone temple facade. On the left, a man in a dark coat stands on stone blocks. Near the entrance, three figures in tunics sit or stand. Two more people are visible within the shadowy doorway. The structure features two ornate columns supporting a lintel carved with a winged disk. Distant hills rise beneath a hazy sky, framing the weathered monument.
