Description

Literature: Berlin II, no. 475 (Berlin Staatlich Museen, Katalog der Ornamentstich-Sammlung der Staatlichen Kunstbibliothek Berlin, Berlin and Leipzig, 1936-39); Cohen-de Ricci 178 (livre rare); Guilmard p. 225, no. 29 First edition before the addition of the "Milano" on the title page
A vertically oriented etching on cream paper features centered rows of flowing, dark-inked cursive script enclosed by a thin, dark double-line border. The title "Mascarade à la Grecque" crowns the page in the largest hand. Below, smaller sections of French text descend the page in tidy, centered paragraphs. The paper's surface exhibits a mottled texture with a few faint orange-brown age spots visible near the bottom right corner.
