Description

Landscapes painted in blue and green mineral pigments often allude to the past or to paradise. Here the color may suggest that surrounded by nature, the figure can escape the hassles of the chaotic world.
An ink and color painting on silk depicts a landscape on a muted brown background. Left, a gnarled willow tree with drooping green branches towers over a seated figure. To the right, cattle graze in a field below sharp blue and green mountain peaks. Small dark dots texture the trunk and rocky outcroppings. The composition balances the detailed foreground against the soft, receding forms of distant green hills.
