Did You Know?

This helmet once had a leather liner to protect a soldier's head from the hard steel. Armorers continuously innovated their designs, keeping in mind both protection and comfort.
A steel and brass helmet with a high, rounded crest features a projecting brim and hinged cheek plates. Rows of rounded yellow brass rivets follow the helmet's curves, and an embossed spiral decorates the side. The edges of the dark gray, worn steel are finished with a twisted rope-like texture. Oriented to the left, the piece showcases a functional design accented by bright brass details along its textured borders.
